How to get a better rental rate when looking to rent an apartment

Very few people know that there a certain questions to ask when sitting across from a leasing consulant when looking for an aparment that will help you get a better rental rate. Most people believe that apartment rates are always set in stone and their is no flexibility, but that is not the case. The apartment industry does not want you to know these questions or ticks of the trade because they want to get as much money for rent without you walking out the door. I worked in the apartment industry as a leasing consultant to an assistant manager and I have seen it all. Now that I am an apartment locator I am here to help you get the best deal on an apartment. Here are the questions you need to ask when visiting an apartment community:

1) Do you have any current specials such as total move in specials or so much off your 1st months rent or 1st full month free or prorated off your monthly rent?

2) Do you have any look and lease specials? Are they 24 hr or 48 hr deals?

3) Do you have any specials or better on your vacant apartments? If so whats the longest you can hold a vacant apartment?

4) Do you have any preferred employer specials or deals?

 

VERY IMPORTANT:

Now, these questions will not do you any good if the apartment community is using a system called Yieldstar to get its rates.
